As I flicked through my inbox the other day, I noticed that Saks Fifth Avenue is having their 10 Year Anniversary Sale with a 10% off all your total order which includes beauty. Buying makeup and clothes online is no easy feat, and sometimes it requires references to on-the-spot beauty blogs. So back to the 10% Anniversary Sale, subscribe to their mailing list and you will recieve a coupon code which you may use to make your one-off purchase. I'm not sure if this is a unique coupon code, but here is mine: SFATENTQSVAB
Offer is valid till this Friday.
Don't pay the $13 shipping price. Enter the code SHIPAFF10 which you may layer on this other code. I tried it last night and it works like a charm.
Dolce & Gabbanna makeup is highly inaccessible globally, with only a few Saks department stores in New York and Harrods London. So I thought of showing you my one and only Dolce & Gabbanna makeup item which I bought last year in London - the Dolce & Gabbanna Luminous Cheek Color in Caramel.
The blush weighs 5g and is priced at USD 44.
Comes in a nice velvet black pouch to prevent the container from scratches etc.
I will describe this color is a light brown with a hint of rose. There's hardly any pink or peach, and works well on skin tones of above NC25. I suppose it will do ok as contour color as well. I needed a color that deviates from pinks, peaches and corals since I just have too many of them. This picture is true to the color on pan, and was taken with no flash.
The texture is amazingly soft and blends very well.
The swatch to the left shows the blush directly on a cream foundation (to help the color show up better). The swatch on the right shows the blush with no foundation as a base and as you can see, it's quite sheer. I am an NC25 for reference and this was swatch at the back of my arm where I am the fairest.
Here are the swatches again with flash, and looks just about the same as the above photo since the room was filled with natural sunlight.
Comes with a beautiful little brush, which will come in handy during business or holiday trips. Surprisingly, the bristles are soft.
The size of the pan is about the same as the Chanel Tweed blushes...
And it picks up the pigment incredibly well.
Here it is on my cheeks. As you know, taking accurate pictures of blushes on the cheeks is quite hard due to the angle/light/pigmentation of my skin.
I hope you find this post useful. I will definitely be picking up a few more items from the Dolce & Gabbanna makeup line, especially being influenced by Lorraine on YouTube and Sabrina from the Beauty Look Book.
